Grant Application Information

Funding through Section 319(h) of the Clean Water Act is provided to the Kentucky Nonpoint Source Pollution (NPS) Control Program from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).  Funds can be used to pay for 60 percent of the total project cost; a 40-percent nonfederal match is required.

All prospective grant applicants must complete and submit an Initial Interest Form in order to be considered for funding.

Steps to Getting a Grant
for 2009

  1. Read the Guidance Document.
  2. Submit Initial Interest Form by Nov. 1, 2008.
  3. Discuss project development with NPS staff.
  4. Develop application -- consult technical support documents on "What is the condition of my stream?" to help document your application.
  5. Submit application. Application must be postmarked by midnight Jan. 30, 2009. If delivered by hand, application must be received by 4:30 p.m. ET Jan. 30, 2009, at the Division of Water, 14 Reilly Road, Frankfort, KY.
  6. Feb. 6 - March 6, 2009 -- project review and selection.
  7. May 30, 2009 -- expected receipt of grant from EPA.
  8. Memorandum of Agreement written and executed.
  9. Project begins.
