SDWIS

The Safe Drinking Water Information System (SDWIS)/FED (federal version) contains information about public water systems and their violations of Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) drinking water regulations, as reported to EPA by the states. These regulations establish maximum contaminant levels, treatment techniques and monitoring and reporting requirements to ensure that water systems provide safe water to their customers.

SDWIS/STATE (Safe Drinking Water Information System/state version) is a database designed by EPA to help states run their drinking water programs. SDWIS/STATE is the state counterpart to EPA's federal drinking water information system.

Electronic Submission

The Department for Environmental Protection has developed a Web site to facilitate submittal of electronic documents. The site may be found at Kentucky Department for Environmental Protection Electronic Submittals. Acceptable file formats, supporting files and examples for drinking water sampling data are provided below.

The TC_TOOL has also been developed to facilitate submittal of bacteriological data. This is an MS-Access application that allows laboratories to enter and store bacteriological sampling results and subsequently transform that data into a specially formatted text file that can be transmitted electronically.
