Logan County lifted its outdoor burning ban Monday, and
Warren and Barren counties could soon follow
suit.
Two-thirds of the county received adequate
rainfall this weekend; the mid-south portion received the
least, said Judge-Executive Logan Chick.
He also said
multiple July 4 fireworks requests factored into his decision
to lift the ban.
Southcentral Kentucky has received a
wide swath of rainfall since Friday, ranging from roughly 1
inch to 3 inches, said Joe Sullivan, a meteorologist at the
National Weather Service's Louisville office.
There is
a slight chance of rain this week, ranging from 20 percent to
50 percent, according to the weather service.
Barren
County Judge-Executive Davie Greer said she would like to lift
Barren's burn ban as soon as possible.
Meanwhile, the
solid waste coordinator is inspecting rainfall density in
different parts of the county.
“Some of us got enough
for it to be lifted and some didn't,” Greer said.
In
Warren, an outdoor burning ban was ordered June 7 and
continues until further notice.
